Most modern electric blankets have integrated thermostat controls for temperature regulation. Blankets are categorized according to their fill method; the most common being conventional filled and fleece filled.
Many of the electric blankets have automatic shut-off settings. These automatic shut-off settings provide users the choice to turn off the heating element automatically after a specified time. Other automatic shut-off settings provide users the option to fully adjust the temperature of the blanket to suit their needs. The temperature of the blanket can be controlled from one of three different settings: a comforting cold, a warming cozy, or a medium cozy.

a certain time of day may determine what heat settings your electric blankets need to work at. As the sun goes down in the evening and temperatures start to drop, heat settings are recommended. During the daytime, heat settings are often on high to get the body ready for sleep. Heat settings may also be set to warm up the bedroom prior to sleeping and again in the morning before rising, just to give the comfort needed for sleeping.
If you own electric blankets with wires, you need to know how to strip those wires before inserting them into the blankets themselves. Each wire has a pair of insulation sleeves. Take each wire and slide one sleeve over the exposed wire. Then place the exposed wire inside the insulated sleeve, covering any sharp or loose ends with insulation tape. You should then push the two sides of the insulation tape together to seal.
A popular safety feature in modern blankets is an automatic shut-off system. These automatic shut-off systems work on batteries. Once the automatic shut-off system senses an unsafe level of heat or low level of light, it will automatically shut off the electrical power. To use this safety feature, simply position the electric blankets on their sides, turn on the automatic shut-off system and leave them in their current position.
If you own electric blankets with removable face plates, you can remove and clean the face plates safely without involving children or pets. To clean the face plates, use a soapy cloth dipped in mild detergent and warm water to gently remove dust and dirt particles from the surface.
